Hotel Esplanade is a historic hotel in Stockholm, built in 1910 and beautifully located on Strandvägen by Nybroviken. In the carefully preserved Art Nouveau environment, the building's architecture, original details and personal hospitality live on - a timeless meeting place where past and present meet.
A HOTEL WITH SOUL, WARMTH AND OVER A HUNDRED YEARS OF HISTORY.
Hotel Esplanade is one of Stockholm's best-preserved Art Nouveau hotels, located at Nybroviken on fashionable Strandvägen. The architect-designed building was built in 1910 by Hagström & Ekman and is characterized by the bright elegance, soft shapes and nature-inspired details of Art Nouveau. The facade is adorned with apple branches, leaded windows and Gotland marble, while the interior offers rounded walls, decorative columns, intricate joinery and original furniture from the hotel's early years.
Here Mrs. Augusta Dehn founded Grand Pensionat Dehn – an exclusive and renowned guesthouse where personal hospitality, homeliness and elegance were the focus. Only guests with recommendations were welcomed, and many stayed here for longer periods. Mrs. Dehn herself was the guest of honor at the dinners, where the location near her testified to special status. The guesthouse was continued by her daughter Clary Menzinsky until 1954, when the business was taken over by the Association of Swedes Abroad and was named Hotel Esplanade.
Since 2014, Hotel Esplanade has been owned and operated by Charlotte Mannerson, who has carefully refined the hotel with great respect for the building's history. Thoughtful renovations have been successively carried out, where modern comfort has been discreetly integrated without compromising the original Art Nouveau feel. Most recently, all bathrooms in the hotel's 34 rooms have been newly renovated from 2026.
Hotel Esplanade is today a unique hotel with 34 individually decorated rooms, all with high ceilings, period details and charming parquet floors. Here, history and present meet in a calm and relaxed environment that makes many guests return to – and choose to stay longer. The hotel has also been the backdrop for films, television productions and fashion reports.
